Interview with Robert Thomson of 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming

Interview 002

Robert Thomson is co-owner (with his wife Connie) of 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming. They publish supplements and adventures for the Pathfinder roleplaying game. We discuss the inner workings of a small publisher, the future plans for 4 Winds, and he gives us a sneak peak at their own roleplaying game. Their most recent release is Inkantations: A Sourcebook of Tattoo Magic & Body Art.

Inkantations

We also have a beer break, chat about trains (I happen to love trains. Lots of train history here in Pennsylvania.) and Robert shares some of his favorite games.

Robert and 4 Winds will be at MisCon this year, which runs from May 27th – May 30th. You can learn more about the con at www.MisCon.org.

You can learn more about Robert and 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming at www.4WindsFantasyGaming.com.

This is my second interview. I’d appreciate any comments or feedback you may have, so click the thought bubble above and let me know how I’m doing. Thanks!

  2. Great interview Carl. I am jealous of people living out west. I totally want to live in Montana, Colorado, or Wyoming. Great insight behind the GM screen of 4-winds as well, nice work.

I feel like Flagons and Dragons is really hitting it’s stride. Only downside is no mention of my games yet. ;) Just kidding!

Well, maybe we should remedy that! Send an email to carl@flagonsanddragons.com and let’s talk about an interview regarding the Errant game system.

And thanks for the feedback. I’m learning as I go!

Very nice interview. I felt the desire to open a Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat during intermission. If it wasn’t 9am I might have. Definitely will have one tonight during the Pathfinder playtest.

I even learned a few things about Exploding Aces that I didn’t know (and I’m the designer).

Thanks CJ! The warmer weather certainly does call for a Leinie’s Sunset Wheat. It’s available year-round, but I don’t usually partake of them until the weather gets nicer. Cheers!

  3. A great interview – you have a fantastically pleasant, casual interviewing style. You’re laid-back & conversational, but well-informed and engaging. ‘course, it’s no surprise – the show is always great. I’d love to hear more interviews.
